Your First Lacrosse Tournament: What to Pack and Ask
Updated: 1 day ago
A tournament weekend is easier when the family knows the schedule, the required equipment and where updates will appear. Start with the event’s actual information rather than a generic list from a different league.
Confirm before leaving
Check arrival time, field locations, parking, game spacing and the weather-update channel. Ask the team how pickup and supervision work between games. Save the coach or team manager’s contact route where it is easy to find.
Pack in three groups
Playing items: the player’s legal stick, uniform and correctly fitted equipment required for the game format and role. Review the equipment checklist; shin guards are not a universal field-player requirement.
Between-game items: a labeled drink bottle, familiar food, spare dry clothing and weather-appropriate sideline layers. Keep food storage and refill access in mind.
Family items: the schedule, directions, a charged phone and only the extras the event permits. Avoid packing so much that the player cannot find the essentials.
During the day
Follow event and team instructions for weather, breaks and emergencies. Let the player rest between games rather than treating every gap as extra training time. When a game ends, check the next meeting time before leaving the team area.
Afterward, ask what was enjoyable and what would make the next weekend easier. Our game-day food checklist can help with the next trip. The first tournament is a learning experience, not a test of how perfectly a family packs.
