Eight Weeks Before Lacrosse: A Preparation Calendar
Updated: 15 hours ago
An eight-week countdown can organize preparation without prescribing the same workouts to every player. Use this calendar with the coach and adapt it around other sports, school and the player’s needs.
Weeks 1–2: Understand the starting point
Confirm the season schedule and equipment requirements. List current activities and ask which skills would be useful to review. Address equipment fit or lingering health concerns with the appropriate professional before increasing training.
Weeks 3–4: Establish a manageable routine
Choose brief skill activities the player can perform with control. Use qualified instruction for unfamiliar movements. Make time for rest rather than adding daily conditioning automatically.
Weeks 5–6: Review, then adjust
Discuss how the routine feels and whether technique remains consistent. Change one part of a session at a time. A calendar is not a reason to introduce advanced jumps, maximal efforts or extra contact drills.
Weeks 7–8: Get ready for the actual team schedule
Recheck the bag, arrival details and transportation plan. Ask the coach how optional work should change when team practices begin. Keep the final week realistic rather than squeezing in missed sessions.
Track preparation, not promises
Record equipment readiness, a skill question and one manageable habit. Our conditioning guide gives movement options to discuss with a qualified coach; AAP youth-training guidance provides broader context on supervision and progression. This planning example cannot promise faster play or prevent every injury.
